Blanco Dishwasher Comparison

You will remember I received my post contract variation for a different dishwasher. At the time I didn't give it much thought. You know, it's not something I can control and it's something that comes 'free' with the standard inclusions. Then I looked at the specs and compared it with the old model and I am pleasantly surprised...

New Model: BSID4610X vs Old Model: DWS5X
 vs

  • Capacity: 15 place settings vs 14
  • Water Rating: 6 star vs 4 star (9.8L vs 13.9L)
  • Energy Rating: 4 star vs 3.5 star
  • Noise Level: 42dB vs 47dB
  • Filtration: 5 stage vs 3 stage

There's also a 3rd layer split cutlery tray, anti drip platforms, wine glass supports... newer technology.. yadi yadi yada.. all in all.. #winning! :)

  1. Thanks for doing this research... it saves me having to do it!

  2. It costs more though, PD have put it in our contract but not all the cost is credited back to us.

    1. Not sure I understand the 'credit back'. Do you mean you've taken it out of your contract? They definitely do not give you back what it's worth for taking out. It's probably more worthwhile to keep the appliances in the contract but tell them not to install it and sell them after handover!

  3. I don't think my contract is a special case, if you look at your contract, there will be an item for this dishwasher (probably around $2200), there will also be an item for credit for promotional items, including the dishwasher. No way to tell for sure how much of that figure is for the dishwasher, as its a sum of various things such as flooring, dishwasher, other things you may have upgraded over the standard.

However I do know that we don't get all of that $2200 credited, which is why I tried to get the DWS5X back in my contract when I noticed this dishwasher item in my contract, no luck though as its discontinued (initially I thought they had just got my selection wrong)

    1. Just checked this, because of the DWS5X being discontinued and my previous request to delete the BSID4610X from the contract, PD have put the BSID346X in my contract instead with no additional cost. It is an inferior product compared to the BSID4610X which is most likely the reason there is no cost to upgrade from DWS5X.

I also tracked down the cost in my variations, its $2455 adding the BSID4610X and the credit for the promo DWS5X is $686.

Interior Paint - Wattyl Winter Mushroom

Painting is complete. We've gone for the grey finish to the walls. Here's how the Winter Mushroom looks. Originally we thought of doing white for the architraves and doors but got convinced by the colour consultant to use the same paint all round. Was a bit worried at first but it has come off nicely.

Austral Hawthorn Bricks

Here's some photos of our Hawthorn bricks. These were category 4 upgrade and costs ~$5k. The off white mortar was another $1k on top. We chose to have the rolled joints instead of a flush finish. I think the off white mortar together with the rolled joints make the bricks stand out better and have been well worth the money.

External Elevation Drawings

These are the elevation drawings on how our house will look like. Wish they did a 3D model but this will suffice. This is our version of the Chatsworth facade. Notice the archway has been straightened to be more contemporary looking. One of our windows needs to be obscured. We've selected SatinLite finish instead of Spotswood glazing. The top of the balcony should be brick too so I've asked them to update it as a Post Contract Variation (even though I've picked it up before contract signing).  There's our extra laundry window and extended alfresco at the back Alfresco spanning the width of the house. Extra roller door to the back of the garage so we can drive straight through.  There's the big 3.6m feature window.  The maximum height they could do was 1.5m which is why it looks so short. Slight fall to the block so our house is cut in a bit more than we like it but that's how it's going to be done. At least we've increased the he...
