The Grand Kitchen Review

Presenting to you... the magnificent L shaped Marriot kitchen...! Hanging pendant lights from Domayne ( Stella Pendant Light Copper - Small ). Nice choice from the wifey.

World of Style

Went to visit the World of Style over the weekend. Wasn't intending to, but my Tiles Consultant rang up during the week to inform me that I needed to rechoose one of my Tiles (Belgium Diamond Lapparto) as they have been discontinued.

Plastered!

Plastering pretty much happened straight after lockup. In fact it was booked for the day of lockup but the plasterers didn't show up. That's pretty good of Porter Davis to just get on with the show without waiting for the invoice or my payment. As it turns out, the guys rocked up for work on the Sunday 28th September and the walls were fully plastered by Tuesday. Here's a tour of my plastered house! It's a pretty surreal experience to see the realisation of your 2D plans come to life.   Starting with the entrance, this is the view from the front door. Stairs, powder room, study to the left, the lounge to the right

Lock Up!

Lockup happened over a week ago Friday 26th September - Week 15 of my build! Everything's moving faster than I can blog, which is a good problem to have! Ever since the scaffolding went up a month ago, there's been 6 to 10 guys working furiously on site, sometimes even on weekends! Here it is fully bricked up, roof, eaves, windows and doors

Kitchen Elevations

This is how our kitchen will look like... All with the nice colourtech finish the layout The small 200mm slideout drawer is still in question. Porter Davis is checking to see if the cabinet makers can do it.  Those four drawers were $871 to change from the standard cabinet doors. I am told the blum soft closer alone costs $147 each. We also wanted to put in the Blum servo drive for the pull out bin but have been told Porter Davis do not install them. I assume it should be easy to do it post handover. We have put in a double GPO inside for future use.  Pot drawer was 3 equal spacers for muffin trays. My wife's nice touch.  Fridge overhead cabinet option Rear door to the corner cabinet on the island, with push release.  This is how the promo Pantry upgrade will look. We were just going to leave it empty and do it post handover but since it is included in the promo, we might as well have it... The Pantry will just have the stand...

Colour Selections

This is our colour selections post. The Colour appointment was one of the better consultations we've had with Porter Davis. The colour consultant was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us some nice suggestions. The only negative we have is perhaps towards the end, she got a bit tired and rushed a bit more than she did at the start. This is quite understandable though as there are a lot of rooms to go through for a 48 square house! We were the last to finish of all the morning appointments that day. Without further ado... Kitchen Inspirations

Hoffman 39 - Manhattan Love the inbuilt shelving under the bench and large stone waterfall on the side Ashgrove 29 - Boston  Love the essa stone around the corner so toddlers don't bump their heads on the bench corner sticking out. Raised floor also a good idea. Randwick 24 - Milan Love the feature opening pattern on the wall. Open overhead cabinets also good. Hoffman 29 - Postsea Beach House I hope Hopetoun can build custom cabinets under the bench. I am thinking wine cabinets... Randwick 24 - French Industrial This is my preferred colour scheme. Grey splashback. White cabinets.White essa stone. Open over head cabinets. Greyish Floorboards. Need to ask Hopetoun for exact colours.  Sandringham 45 - New York Nice antique looking floorboards.
