Originally we had chosen Bolero Rustic Coffee floorboards but after seeing it in one of the display homes, we thought it looked too plain and there was not enough variation in the colour or patterns. We promptly raised a variation to change to Dusty Rock which is a much lighter brown / grey colour where the grains in the engineered boards shows through more.
So.., I was lucky enough to get home after work today to find the installers still laying the boards. Here's them getting installed!

Here's the look around the hallway
The dining room
The kitchen
The quads in the process of getting added around the kitchen island
The pantry
And finally a couple of close ups of the boards for anyone thinking of also choosing the Dusty Rock :)
You will notice in the photos that there's no skirting on the walls. This is because I have elected to do them post handover so that I can avoid having quads next to the skirting. The way that Porter Davis build process works is that they must install the skirting before the floorboards and then the gaps are covered by quads. I'm not letting quads ruin my nice new house so will need to go through the trouble of having them installed and painted later. Wish Porter Davis was a little more flexible in this but understand they have a strict schedule and process to follow.
Update: Just a little bit of info for those starting out on their builds. Here's a photo of the extra concrete they poured onto the slab to level it in preparation for the floorboards. This is something that you will need to do yourself if you intend to install your own floorboards post handover.
Awesome looking house. How are things settling in?
ReplyDeleteJust wondering if you could post/email a pic of the door to access under the stairs? We have opted for this in our build accessible via the pantry (Waldorf) and am not sure what height the door will be and if it is angled. Saw in one of your pics it appears you have under stair access via a door so am hoping you don't mind sharing?
Hi Troy, things been busy last few months. Hopefully get a chance to update this blog soon.
DeleteOur 'dwarf' door under the stairs is 1.5m high. It's not angled. Just a normal hinged door but with no latch so it's like the linen cupboard door.
Thanks for the reply Jerry. Exactly what I was after.
DeleteHope you are settling in nicely.
