This is a delayed post. I'm just catching up on some of the updates I was meant to upload but didn't have time to before the mad holiday season.
Here's how my master bedroom floor looked on December 19th. The floor is getting fixed as they were squeaking a bit in this section.
My site supervisor picked this up as part of the checks before the carpet is laid. At the time I thought, wow, that's pretty good of my SS to pick this up! However, it is actually in their best interest to detect these squeaks as there is a 2 year warranty on squeaking floors as per the Guide to Standards and Tolerances (2007).

14.06 Squeaking floors
Floors that squeak in trafficable areas within the first 24 months are defective
In any case, it's good to have this fixed now instead of the hassle of calling Porter Davis in after handover to rip up carpets and re-nail the boards. Win win.
It is always better to renovate the floor before the installation of carpet, as then it becomes difficult to repair after all the screws have been tufted with the carpet.
